Has anyone ever used Pergo instead of real wood for a tongue-and-grove ceiling? How much money will I save? Do I need to put down a sub-floor (or sub-ceiling, as it were)?

....."pergo" is considered a "floating floor". It interlocks side by side and end to end. There are little if any nails used when installing this type of product. I guess you could nail the panels in place on a ceiling. If you have a vaulted ceiling with r-30 insulation, then I'd definitely use some type of substrate to help keep your ceiling from warping.
Pennywise maybe, but it aint worth the hassle Grid. Go with the standard T&G.
