Anybody got it? Anybody know someone with it? The house I'm moving to in FL looks like it's going to be just out of the reach of roadrunner. My main concern is being able to use it with the company's VPN, I see on direcway's website it says that it will work, just be 50% slower. I can deal with that if thats true. Any help would be appreciated.

my buddy Greg has it, its ok. Not like RR. Compares real well with DSL.

buddy of mine has satellite (not Direcway), uses VPN all the time without problems. But it does suck - latency is high so no on-line gaming, browsing is painful if you are used to cable/DSL as each click to a new page takes a second to get started.

I'm pleasantly surprised. You're right, browses very similiar to DSL. Getting 659 down, 205 up. VPN does not work AT ALL though. (DOH!)

I dont use it but i know others that like it as long as your not uploading or playing games etc.... D/L are pretty fast though...

Alls I know about satelite is that outgoing info is much slower than incoming because the outgoing uses the phone line...so I read somewhere.

So far this isn't really true. Minw doesn't use the phone line - it's a two way system, using the DW6000 modem which has some added bells and whistles. Last night for shits and grins I ran another speed test - got 839 down and 375 up, which is faster than I ever saw on comcast (upstream anyway). There was one period a couple nights ago where it slowed way down for a couple of hours, then cleared up on it's own. Only problem I have with it so far is the latency, which isn't all that noticeable for most sites, ESPN being an exception for some reason. Still haven't gotten the VPN to connect.
