question 'bout answering machine

Have any of you (dialer-uppers, or former) used or are familiar with an answering machine that allows you to take a phone call while on the web? Emerson (not my fav electronic brand) has one for $29.99. Are there any drawbacks to hooking one of these up to your computer? Does this machine actually do what it states (with the aid of Call Waiting)? It's supposed to allow you to remain on line without missing phone calls or faxes, and no software requirements.

I heard of those. Best thing I can tell youi sbuy it, try it, and take it back if you don't want it.

Now you know there's an Earthlink special that gives you RR service for $29/month for the 1st six months, then $42/month after that. No commitment, free installation. You on AOL?

My dial-up's $18.87 per month. I refuse to deal with Time Warner (cable). When my contract with MSN expires, I'll look into dish.

The machine's not available locally, I'll have to order it. I'd like for the damn thing to work from the git go to avoid reshipping/hassel.

Uh yea, you don't actually deal with Time Warner. Earthlink call TW, and they call a sub-contractor, and they hook you up. You will get billed by TW though, but it's Earthlink.

Don't get yer hopes up on a dish for internet.

Try Radio Shack. I think they sell one of those your looking for.
