Ok, I just bought a Hp Printer and I am trying to install the software. I get it going and then this message appears: "Error.1606 Could not accessnetwork location <Common Administrative Tools>.All users\.

Anyone got any clues as of what to do about it? I am runnin Microsoft2000 professional. Please Help!!

That's weird. What kind of printer what kind of software? try just installing the print driver the add printer utility in settings.

It is an Hp photsmart 7760. According to the directinos it wants me to install the software before i even plub it up. It goes throught the checking the system stage and when stage 2 "installing printer" comes up that is when I get the error message. It happened the other day too when i was trying to install the updates to Acrobat reader. I think it has something to do with the settings in 2000, but I don't know what they are.

You may have not given yourself admin status. Do you have more than one logon set for the machine?

I went to Control Panel/ users and goups/ and it said i was listed in the administrators group. I hope that means I have the rights, any idea if something else needs to be done to make sure?

Why don't you just use the "ADD A PRINTER" wizard instead of installing the software?

Logon as Administrator and install the printer software. that is all users stuff, and takes admin privledges to install.
