New life in Chicago....

When I heard that on the radio this morning I was wondering if there would be mourning or celebration. Hate to think of it this way, but with the future of the Blackhaws looking bright for the first time in quite a while, guess it's good he won't be there to fuck it up.

I am saddened at hsi passing, but there's not a hockey fan in Chicago that doesn't think this will open the door for the team to jump head first into the 90's (note the sarcasm), and catch up to the rest of the league. It may not be this year, but I think it will be sooner, rather than later.

And for those who don't already know, since we don't see much international or junior hockey in the US - Jonathan Toews last name is pronounced "Taves". Keep note of this kid.

it will make no difference, remember when Harold Ballard owned the Leafs and they sucked, now that he has been dead for many years they still suck.

I always thought it was two different people when I read about Toews and heard talk on the radio about Taves. For the first time in a long, long time, I'd really like to see the Blackhawks play. Is their draft pick playing in the NHL this year?

disagree....they have had more good years than bad since Ballard. Plus they moved into the East from the West.

Mo vs Laviolette....who will have the better record? I can imagine if the Leafs do well and the Canes have a slow start the 'Bring Back Mo' chants will start.

The Leafs will be much better this year. They were off to a great start last year before 2/3 of their top scorers went down pretty much for the rest of the season. They picked up Blake from the Isles to add more scoring power, and Toskala from SJ to beef up goaltending with Raycroft (who IMO is very soft). I think they'll be a solid #6 seed.
