Lamp blew out last night. Lasted slightly over 2 years. The only item from Best Buy Ive ever paid for the warranty and it has now been worth it.

Is it a DLP? I've heard about those lamps. What do they cost to fix? Is it a user replaceable thing?

ive seen the bulb anywhere from $400-$200. I can fix it myself. supposedly you remove 4 screws from the back, pull the lamp, put new one in.

Im going to order another one in 6 months or so for backup.

So I guess that warranty really wasn't worth it?

the warranty is worth it for the tv (not anything else ive ever purchased from bb). I could have someone come out and do it for me but there is no need this time. I can do it myself in 8 days or have the repairman show up in 8 days to tell me what is wrong and then ordr the part which will take another 8 days. I've already had my tv cleaned and serviced and now the lamp replacement.

Is that very hip high tech talk for saying your picture tube blew?

[You had me believing a fucking light bulb cost 2-$400.]

Where do you get those, Dave? I think the same thing is going out in my RCA. If I can fix it for $400, I will. Otherwise, I'm looking at around $800 for the replacement TV I want.
