iPhone 2.0 with 3g and gps and 8GB storage for $199 isn't bad. With connectivity with corporate messaging at least coming with Apple licensing more of the activesync stuff to link up with Exchange securely, this might start to become a viable device for people beyond the techno-lovers.

I still like my free blackjack, but it's now within reason to switch if Apple could meet corporate security policies (implement remote secure delete in case of a lost device, enforce password unlock policies, etc.). Not sure why I'd switch, but the new slimmer device and finally matching the blackjack 3g speeds makes it at least viable.

Looks like Apple included a LOT of the security features needed in iPhone 2.0, including the remote security wipe, so I may become an apple dork soon. I'm going to have to hit myself on the head repeatedly every day, but what the hell. I'd also have to violate rule #1, no loading of apple's crappy software on my machine...iTunes, QuickTime, Safari are all evil but I guess I'll need iTunes now...

looks like they fixed most of the things that shold've been there in the first place - price, 3g, security, GPS. Now, they can start working on universal use and stop this AT&T crap.
I'm enjoying the hell out of my Touch, so if I were in the market, I'd probably move, but I'm loving the centro and have a steal of a plan so I don't see it happening soon.

It really isn't that much cheaper than the old one. The data plan for the new iphone is $10 more per month than it was for the old one. So over the required 2 year contract, you end up paying $240 more. More features I guess, but you are paying about the same amount of $$... just spreading it out over 2 years.

That 240 goes to AT&T so it would depend on how much AT&T is paying Apple to be the sole providor.
