anyone done this themselves? I've done a little, but have a brother who wants to install a surround sound system. He has a crawlspace with plenty of room (i think) to move around. THinking of sending the wires down to the crawlspace then drilling thru the floor up into the wall to the different locations. Any ideas/suggestions, thanks.

Pretty easy, just use heavy string and weights to drop the line. Tie the weight to the cable and lower it with the string.

how do you find where to drill when you are under the house? In other words, how to drill so that you are making a hole inside the wall instead of "oops" making holes right next to it thru the floor?

hmm, maybe take the baseboard off, drill thru floor and wall there, and then when done put baseboard back on and hide the stuff. ?

Look for nails or other fastening hardware in the vicinity of the joint and drill along the same line as them.

Are you planning on installing quick connect oulets and plates in the walls as well? If so, this gets a bit more complicated, involving finding studs, nailing electrical boxes, etc.

Measure off from floor ducts. Buy a cut in ring and a 4 foot flex bit, stick in hole and find it underneath. 2 story house? Or drill a hole in a closet and measure off from there.
