nothing bad will happen to it as long as its covered and used in a week or so. i keep mine out.

i've kept mine out and covered for weeks at a time, it never seemed to mold.

i dont understand how one stick could last weeks...??? it also works well as a lube if you're in a pinch :xyzthumbs

It will last a while at room temperature, but my suggestion would be to buy margarine or whipped butter and keep it in the fridge.
