Last year at this time things were looking pretty good with Sam Howell and Spencer Rattler jockeying for the top overall pick. As of right now though, there's a pretty good chance that the first QB doesn't go until the middle of the first, if that high. Am I the only one here who really enjoyed Rattler shitting the bed so bad that he was benched? It wouldn't surprise me if he transferred to a school where he can recover from 2021 rather than enter the draft next year.

The best candidates to replace Sam so far, assuming we decide to go that direction? IMO, they are, in no particular order, Sam Howell, Malik Willis, Matt Corrall, and maybe Desmond Ridder. None of this group will be a day one starter, unless you want to ruin him. And all of them have elements to their game that look good, but for every prospect that flashes potential like Josh Allen there are half a dozen Jake Lockers and Ryan Mallets.

I might stick stuff in this thread about the 2022 QB class over the next few months. Right now I think that the Panthers will roll with Darnold another year and try to fix the line next, but there's always the chance that they really need to generate excitement and move on from him, and nothing does that like a Zach Wilson type of boom or bust QB prospect. There should be plenty of those next spring.

Pitt is playing at Virginia Tech this weekend, and they're hosting Clemson next week. If they win one or both of those, and Kenny Pickett plays well, look for him to be in first round conversations. He looks like this year's Joe Burrow.

I am all about Olineman now, don't care about QB's any longer.

Darnold is very good when given time. When not given time, he buckles. Soooooo, give him time.

His progressions and thought processing tends to take a little longer than most stone walls can take.

Howell is sitting pretty, honestly. He'll end up going to a better team than Detroit or Houston.

I'm not impressed with any of the others. If I'm the GM of the Lions, I'd rather trade a mid rounder for Minshew or Heinike than draft any of these quarterbacks in the top 5.

Kayvon Thibodeaux still looks like he's going first overall. I think that Matt Corral is the first QB taken, followed by Kenny Pickett. Through seven games Pickett's gone
168/244 for 2,236 yards, 23 TDs, and 1 INT. He beat Virginia Tech and Clemson, and he has a great arm. There are some real nice throws against Clemson.

Corrall and Picket will both be taken in the top 10. Howell should be available in the middle of the first. I have no idea where Willis goes, but he's the only other QB who will go in the first.

Yeah, and a better day for Howell. He's not going to be able to run like that in the NFL though.

Still, Willis has traits. Some NFL coach will look at him and think “I can coach him out of those bad habits, his upside is great” and he will end up getting over-drafted. Looking at you, Matt Rhule...

As an aside, I don't know who chooses the soundtracks for these videos, but they need to do better.

There's a remote possibility that we could get Brennan Armstrong by trading back into Round 3 or even in Round 4 and hoping he develops. He's got a good long ball and can fling it into tight windows in the flat with precision. He got hurt against BYU but check out this game against Illinois.

Here are his highlights against Carolina.

His season stats so far are 261/406 (64.3 %), 3557 yards, 27 TDs, and 8 INTs. He's also rushed for 271 yards. He's just a Junior, so there's a chance he goes back to school. But he looks like someone who could be worth a damn with a little time and coaching.

Assuming Armstrong makes it back from his injury, the Nov. 20 game against Pitt should be must see TV for draftnicks.
