Of the top 10 FG% teams in the NFL last year, only two made the postseason. Even if you think a guy is going to be amazing, you don't waste a high draft pick on one.

Na, I tend to agree. Janikowski is a HOF kicker (ya, I said it), however, I don't think any GM can truly forecast how high a player's ceiling can be. That said, HOF'er or not, I wouldn't take a kicker any higher than the 4th round regardless of his perceived ceiling.

BTW, I fucking hate kickers. Punters too. Yet, both are crucial.

If there was a guy I really liked, I'd maybe give him a 4th round value. Maybe. It's easier to score touchdowns now. I'd also be worried, if I were a GM, about where the league is going with special teams. Who the fuck knows if field goals will even exist in ten years.

It was crazy on wasting a 2nd round pick on a kicker, even if he is great year to year for years. He could have been picked up a few rounds later.
