Anyone else notice Morgan wearing one, too? Now it's not just the O who gets a signal that's decoded by a wrist band.

I thought I saw that. Is it that complicated to saw...tiger right 4-3 man? Or whatever?

it gets the play in faster, and puts the onus on the QB or MLB (or whoever happens to call it) to get the play called on the field. It saves time, rather than the coordinator saying tiger right 4-3 man and then Morgan saying tiger right 4-3 man, the coordinator can just say 43 or whatever and then Morgan can say the tiger right 4-3 man. It's fairly obvious to me how much time it would save, especially on offense. I kinda laughed the other day when someone got on Delhomme about still having to look at his wrist band for the play.

It shouldn't be that complicated a call, even in pro. You should have a front call, which includes alignment, a coverage call which should be no more than two words, and any special instructions like blitzing, stunting, etc. So a total of four words or less, and often the FS calls the coverage in huddle anyway.
But I don't dislike the call to use wristbands, it's something different, and certainly keeps any confusion from happening. Plus, in an emergency situation, you can always have your LB call his own plays - they're right there.
I'm non-committal on it. I will give them the benefit of the doubt, anyway.
Assumedly, they change those bands every week, just as they would the offensive play sheets the OC or HC carry around during the game, and they're well-protected anyway. But playbooks are way more accessible than you'd think, being as how I have a couple of them myself.

The more games I see, the more I notice this. Watch Pennington holding the arm after injury. Wrist band. I saw them on a linebacker or two for some other teams.
Just a sign of the times, I guess. I gotta say, when I first saw it, I thought Dan Henning was a huge idiot. Now I'm pretty certain it wasn't likely his idea.
It's not something that a team needs, but I can understand it. Anything that keeps you from being more complicated than necessary is usually good, especially when you're talking about one way radio communication in competition.

the guys that call the plays for defense all have them... Morgan had one last year as did Witherspoon after Morgan went down... Witherspoon has one this year too
