I was emailed an estimate with a word doc attachment. Why does it come out looking like this?
 
AOL mail involved?

Prob compressed or corrupt. Add a .zip to the end of the file name and try to unzip it.

If that doersn't work, you'll have to have it resent. Ask them to compress it first.
 
Could be a PDF file too.
 
are you sure it's a word doc and not a word perfect file, the save as doc too. could also be a word recovery file.
 
Thanks, I used an older Works proggy and it did the trick.

Nothing but the lastest and greatest.
Note scarcasm in previous sentence.
 
An editor at my job still uses Works. He says when he cuts and pastes to Quark or PageMakers or another program, it keeps the format (ex: bold, italics, underlines, etc)
