more specifically:
Get the new Linksys wireless router (you might want internet in the future, and it gives you a 4-port switch for those devices that need a physical connection):

And get a few cards (if those files are LARGE, you might want wireless A or G as they are much faster than B). Which ones depend on what kind of machines you need to connect. The USB adapters will work on anything, the PCI is all internal to the machine so it's cleaner, and the PC Card is nice as it's small and no cables for laptops (vs. USB).

Be careful of any wireless phones you might have in the office. You gotta make sure you get a wireless network that runs at a different freq from your phones. 802.11b/g run at 2.4ghz, the current standard for wireless phones too. 802.11a runs at 5.8ghz, the same as the new coming standard for wireless phones...

I wouldn't recommend A either... while its fast it has very limited range... stick with G for your speed and range

That's no lie brain, too much telemetry bouncing around and office is not good. Hardwire is always better. wireless exists for the home environment or really offbeat commercial problems.

Me either. Mostly because I can beat an 11Mbps wireless connection with a 100Mbps on CAT5 (assuming the place has 100Mbps switches).

Wireless is fine for file transfers - 54mb/s is pretty good. It might be very hard/expensive for this office environment to go hard-wired. If it's possible to hardwire, that's clearly better for the desktop PC's.

I transfer large files all day, and I'm over the 100/mbps. Once you've felt gigabit, there's no going back. Watch a 100mb file copy in less than 10 seconds over a network. That rocks.
But jpgs are small files, not like tif or eps.
If you just don't want to run the wires, I can install the network for you. I'm cheap, but I'm good. I can run the lines, set up your outlets and install your hub.

What type of office are you in. If you have a drop ceiling then pulling the cable is a piece of cake. Fishing the wall is not much of a problem either. Tech school for cable pulling is about 10 minutes.
