Wireless Network

I have several towers and a laptop that I have networked. I have a RoadRunner Internet Connection. I want to change the network to a wireless one but don't know exactly what I need. What do I need? Which is the most reliable wireless router? Any problems that I should expect? Thanks.

A wireless router is going to cost your about 100-150. Get a netgear (linksys are ok too) wireless router and make sure your laptop has a wireless PC card too (about 70 bucks). It's fairly simple, just read the directions for connections. Make sure your router is in the center of your house somewhere to get good connection to your Access Point (router) for whatever you have wireless.

you're not going to want to go completly wireless b/c transfers are going to be slow. That's if you can stand to transfer files between computer at 12 megs max compared to 100.

I could live with that transfer speed between computers. I don't transfer any large files. I would like to have internet access on all the computers and my wife complains about the wires being everywhere.

I'm completely wireless and get about 11mb/sec on my laptop. It hasn't really slown anything down like Kazaa or surfing. I find it to be quite liberating. My system shipped with my new Dell and was easier to install than the wired connections on an older computer. WinXP came through on that one note.

you can get wireless to run up to 58 Megs if you're willing to invest
