Williams uses Jumbotron to avoid tackle

... But Williams broke through late in the half, bursting up the middle and spinning out of a tackle attempt by safety Rashad Baker . He outran Thomas Howard to the end zone, making it 14-0 at the half.

''I was looking up at the JumboTron as I was running, and I could see somebody coming after me, so I was able to move around from side to side,'' Williams said. ''You've got to use everything on the field.''

Hilarious. And smart.

That play was so huge, and he earned every inch. You give a smart, humble, hard working kid like that the benefit of knowing the little tricks by the third year and you have a 1000 yard back (tough, obviously, given what sits behind him).

He's our back right now, the hot hand. It was curious to not see Stewart more, and the stuffs early were concerning, but we got out of him what we needed out of him. And he fit what we needed for this game.
Regardless of what got you there, or why, when you're up and it's within 5 minutes anyone that can run that inspired to finish the game is impressive. They felt he could pull it off, and honestly with that many stuffs inside I'd have not expected a pitch that late.

DW isn't the first player to admit to using the jumbo, but I did wonder if he was using it on that run as it happened.

The way Williams has finished games - and when given the chance he's done this all the way to his rookie year - is IMMENSELY impressive.

I have total confidence in his ability to get the yards when they're absolutely needed. I love the kid.

I think it was his rookie year when he was smart enough to not run out of bounds at the end of a game to run the clock, I think it was the same game that Deshaun broke loose against the saints - and all deshaun had to do was take a knee before getting to the end zone to WIN. INstead, Deshaun scored, the saints got the ball back, scored immediately, then I think got the on sides kick and almost won.

I think the same game, before Deshaun got the ball, Deangelo made the correct choice.

Anyway - he's the man.

I'd have been fine with, specifically, Mewelde Moore. Days like these it's easy to say that we didn't need a Stewart, but there was some uncertainty with Williams at that point. He overwhelmingly responded as of late, certainly. At some point, this should be a 1-2 combo that will be very hard to beat.

It was easy to say then too. The guy was averaging 4.6 yards per carry for his career coming into the season. That's not to say that Stewart won't be better, because maybe he will be, but it wasn't enough of a need to justify burning those picks.

I still think it's too early to judge. It was questionable then, it's still questionable.

I'm interested in seeing how we do against the Bucs. We need big Otah to step up and create some lanes, and we need some tough running from Stewart.
