Wide Receivers - Who can we get?

Anybody think we look at trade bait?

T.J. Houshmandzadeh - good size and a decent ceiling for a developmental guy. Can return kicks too. Bengals are suddenly loaded at WR.

Peter Warrick - might be had for a second - but looks like the Bengals like him in the slot and will hold on to him for now. He has disappointed but needs more touches.

Dez White - Chicago - they aren't gonna let him get away cheap - at least a 2nd and probably more than that - but he has deep speed.

Ken Yon Rambo - Dallas - decent skills and is young. Makes some plays and could get better in time.

to be honest I don't see us making any move unless someone goes down... I agree that sucks, but it looks like these are the guys will take to camp... and most likely the one we'll take into the season... our only hope is that a bargain comes open around camp time

Yea, I'd agree mostly. We have 13 WRs on the roster currently and Fox might just let them fight it out for the #4 spot. Proehl definately sees the field more than he would have though.

I'm hoping that Young emerges quickly and becomes a good possesion type guy. He is so huge and if he can show consistent hands - he can be a red zone terror. I'd push him bigtime in TC.

I will say this...
I know Fox and company are concerned about the WR position now. Without Dyson and with Moose's history we could be void of threats at that position with a view injuries. One more veteran would make some sense atp.

If we add a WR, I think it's a veteren and it comes real close or after final cuts.

I like Dez White though, a lot.

I think we're going to see more Young/Seidman than we realize at this point.

I think camp will shed light.

We've got an average (at best) top 3, but we've no idea what's beneath that. Well, we have an idea that it's dogshit, but we might get lucky.

If it's all dogshit, I think we'll try to grab someone.

When is Moose up for a new contract? I'd say if he has the opportunity to split or get resigned this year, he'll have a pretty damn good year...

He'll get his new check and revert back to his "d-coy" mentality....

I've never felt totally comfortable depending on Moose. He breaks a nail and he misses 4 wks. We need a pro bowl type yr from da Moose, but does he have it in him??

To the contrary, Moose has been the type of player who wants nothing more than to be on the field and does not shy away from playing in pain. He became a starter in 1998 and over his 5-year stint as a starter he missed only 3 games total in 4 of the 5 years. His ONLY year of significant injury time was 2001 when he missed 5 games. IMHO had we been in a playoff hunt that year he would have been on the field towards the end of the season. The idea that Moose misses a lot of games because of injury is just inacurrate: 1998 (no games missed), 1999 (1 game missed), 2000 (no games missed), 2001 (5 games missed) and 2002 (2 games missed). He has been a rather reliable receiver considering the way he throws his body around and the way our quarterbacks have thrown the ball. Just my opinion though.
