Maser is probably the only one that is gone for sure. God I hate that Coughlin bastard. He’ll probably call his old pal Maser the second that the superbowl is over.

Its been reported that Maser has already agreed to be the O-Cord for the Giants

When did that happen? Aren't you supposed to wait until a team is done for the season to raid their friggin coaching staff? Three different O-line coaches in as many years. I'm glad that our young guys at least got one year with Maser and now I'm going to hope even harder that Donnalley stays for another year. He could help the young guys during yet another transition. I imagine he has already been very helpful to Gross Nelson and James etc.

It might have been rumored that Maser is the OC.
It comes down to this - the NFL doesn't work the way it used to. You have to have permission to make this sort of move, and Carolina doesn't have to let Maser go. Some teams' head coaches/GMs don't allow guys to go for coordinator - type promotions, though guys like Brian Billick have (JDR, for instance).

If they do let him go, Magazu was a long-standing line coach, and they could pick quickly from amongst the TEs coaches available. It wouldn't be a devastating loss. Personally, I don't see where Maser is that important a choice - it's really just a way to go get an OL coach who's under contract, since Coughlin will call plays himself. That makes Maser a guy who runs the offensive practice and does some run gameplanning.

And yes, having agreed to be the OC for the Giants, or having talked with Coughlin, would likely be considered tampering.

The rest don't stand much of a chance of leaving. Were there many college HC openings available, I'd say Skipper would be a consideration.
O'Brien's physically unable to go anywhere. As assistant head coach, there's absolutely nothing any team could offer him other than a head coaching assignment. Though that largely applies to anyone, including Maser, O'Brien's the only coach who likely has absolutely no chance of ever leaving.

Williamson might be a consideration, only because he's been at this a decent amount of time and retirement becomes something to think about.

With an experienced gameplanner at QBs coach, and Coughlin calling his own plays no matter how badly it hurts his team, the OC job becomes a caretaker. And now it's just up to Fox to say whether it's allright or not for him to leave.

So are you saying that Maser might be less likely to want to leave for what seems to be more of a lateral move, or are you saying that Fox will be less likely to allow Maser to leave now that Gilbride has signed on?

Just that it's now Fox' decision, next week, if that's what it comes down to. We don't have to let him go. On the other hand, of course, occasionally that'll happen and the coach won't sign an extension, will let his contract lapse, and go coach somewhere else.
Either way, Coughlin's got it set up so that any play calling or gameplanning is off Maser's hands.
