What will the Vikings do this year

No I am not switching teams but I find them interesting this year. They have dumped some major talent, from a fantasy football prospective anyway, but will it hurt them. I think they have the potential to be pretty good this year. They have some pretty decent receivers with Williamson and Burleson likely coming back. They should have some stability at tailback with Chester Taylor in tow. Hutchinson should help them running the ball along with the return of Birk. Brad Johnson looked like he had another good year left in him. They have some talent on defense especially on the DL. I think they can be pretty good. They have that extra second rounder to use to trade up if they want. They may end up doing the old "addition by subtraction".

After going 8-8 or close to it with Culpepper and Moss it would be kind of funny to see them dump both of them and then win their division.

Some had the Vikes winning the SB after their offseason additions last year. I bit on that last year so I'll say the Div goes to the Bears this year. Vikes 9-8 this year.

Johnson's the starter, I'm guessing they draft a guy and he takes over in about 24 games. Robinson returns, but he's still not that effective a receiver; I can't remember if Seattle's been awarded Burleson yet, but I'm assuming they'll get him. So theoretically, the Vikings need at least one receiver, a good long term solution and a cheaper vet to hold off Williamson for a bit. Still have Wiggins, so from a receiving standpoint TE should be fine.

They've got a killer left side OL now, with Hutchinson outside Birk, and with McKinnie being an effective pass blocker, they're not doing too badly. Moore and Taylor are an interesting pair, but they could still use a little depth there.

Kevin Williams and Pat Williams are interesting together. If Erasmus James comes to play this year, they might have a good front four. Actually, their entire defense has talent, they just don't seem to play like it. So they're a wildcard.

It will be interesting to see if they play more like a team now that the "superstars" are gone. I think Childress is a good coach and has a chance to do well with them. I had not heard that Burelson was possibly going to Seattle. Didn't they resign Koren Robinson? Maybe they plan to play him and Robinson along with Williamson?

They also just signed Tony Richardson away from KC. Taylors numbers go up and Larry Johnsons go down slightly

They ARE still the Vikings, but new coach, lots of cash available, big FA signings...nah, they're still the Vikings.

I always thought they were a soft team. I think Denny Green kind of has soft teams that are good on offense but not smashmouth and weak on defense. I think maybe Childress will change that. Maybe he wont, I dont really care other than my facination with what happens when you dump the big stars with the big egos.

I predicted them in the superbowl 6 years ago and they didn't make the playoffs.....
