A pitcher no matter how good is still only going to play every 4 or 5 days and even then, for the most part, not even play the whole game.
$35 MILLION a year for basically a part time player. Very seldom do they contribute on the offensive side of things and they are not going to win the game every time they pitch.
So is there a point where a team is just flushing money away?
Being a Braves fan I don`t really care if the Nats piss away years of payroll that part of that $245 million could be invested elsewhere.
