Hello all I was checking out espn and John Clayton was giving a breakdown of what he thinks will happen to us. He calls this year a make or break for the franchise.

    Carolina Panthers
    Cap room: $1.8 million
John Fox doesn't have worries about his job, but 2007 is a make or break year for this franchise. Last year was supposed to be the Panthers' year to return to the Super Bowl. Instead they went 8-8 and Fox made three major changes on his coaching staff, including the firing of offensive coordinator Dan Henning and secondary coach Rod Perry. Several players -- defensive end Mike Rucker, wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson, cornerback Ken Lucas and safety Mike Minter -- could be gone for cap reasons, although it's more likely the team will keep most of these guys for another playoff run. Dan Morgan could also be gone if his concussion problems don't go away, but he at least has a chance to make it to the minicamps and training camp. Expect the Panthers to get a pass-catching tight end as they turn away from the Henning offense. Even though they won't have the cap room to be a big player in free agency, the Panthers usually rework enough contracts to get the things they want. They have 10 free agents.

I agree if we have another bad year it might be time to start over, drop a bunch of veterans and go with a youth movement. I am hoping and expecting a good year though.

If the O line gets well, they really don't have a glaring weakness. I have always advocated the team getting a pass catching TE. They have not had one since Wesley Walls. The corners concern me, they are not very good sometimes.

I think the corners will be fine. They were hurt at times this past year but when healthy they are fine.

With a healthy Lucas and a progressed Marshall, I actually think CB will be the strength of our defense. Gamble's been a bit disappointing, but would certainly give us an above-average nickel back if relegated to that role.

I'm way more concerned about the LBs. Draft was our only consistently good (not great) linebacker last year, and he might bolt.

I was taking for granted that LB was the greatest need. The kid from Mississippi is a really good one but he's likely gone by the time the Panthers pick.

He got pushed around a bit in the senior bowl. I think I would actually prefer Buster Davis to him.

I am just glad to see people use my post for good panther discussion. I read this board daily. I just dont post here alot. I am in the AirForce in Charleston,SC. Anyways I hope we pick up a safety early in the draft. I think LB as well but we could get one of those in Free Agency. My 2 cents... I am not a panthers expert just a huge fan!

Ah yes, time for the annual "Carolina might start utilizing the TE more" card.
