• COURT DATE COMING: Linebacker Justin Seaverns, who was signed to the Panthers practice squad Wednesday, has misdemeanor charges against him stemming from an incident with an ex-girlfriend.

Seaverns was arrested on July 18, charged with one misdemeanor account of making harassing phone calls. He was released on $1,000 bond. He's scheduled to appear in Forsyth County (N.C.) Superior Court on Dec. 19.

Panthers general manager Marty Hurney said Thursday the team was aware of the charges and investigated the matter before signing Seaverns this week.
