We need a LB or two

If we went into the season right now with only what we have, we have Minter and literally nothing at safety. Point taken that we need LBs - actually, IMO, just one. But the bigger need right now is at safety. We could field 3 LBs right now.

Worse than anything? THat might be safety. Davis/Morgan/Diggs isnt terrible, but obviously we wont have Morgan in there for long. And Im real curious to see where Anderson is.

We've got to get some one who can step in for Morgan at the very least. We can all agree on that one I'm sure. If we take another, I'm talking the 5th-7th rounds and only if other needs have been addressed

We can definately agree on that, and maybe not even that late. I mean--its a given Morgan wont last long. I fucking hate that, but its a given. And we dont have Witherspoon or Draft anymore to bail us out. So its a need, for sure. Id say it comes right after safety.

Safety is an area of great concern too. I think that it's not out of the realm of possibility that maybe we could see both positions drafted. Too bad it's not a good year for LB. Two sure fire 1st round picks at safety though.

Is it? Unless the bucs manage to come away with CJ, aren't the three teams in our division primarily running threats including Vick and Bush. If so, can one conclude we need to be faster at LB and be able to stop the run first? Knowing that Morgan can be counted to be back on the shelve shortly into the season if he makes it outa preseason, the DL is seemingly set to take a major hits by perhaps not having both Ruck and Jenks, and the question marks we have at OLBs can one conclude that MLB would be the bigger need despite the obvious hole at safety? Perhaps conclude we are in desperate need of a safety but given an even choice, need MLB worse and thus would jump all over an opportunity to get one and then hope to find the safety later?

Now if the Bucs do indeed come away with CJ, one might have to rethink the priorities and of course think twice about taking a speedy yet slight and unsure tackler to help deal with CJ. Still, the Saints were the division champs and i think you consider what you need to beat them first even if the Bucs get CJ (they still don't have an OL or QB ... unless something changed in the offseason).

We can still sign players after the draft. In theory we could re-sign Shaun Williams and Collin Branch and be no worse off than we were last year at safety. There are some linebackers still floating around that we could sign as well. I think at this point it is still best to draft the BPA but with some thought to filling our holes. If we do not get a safety in the draft it is not the end of the world. I doubt we have to start Nate Salley or anything.

We play more than those six games, of course. We have to account for those guys, sure, but we will hopefully improve our team based on our own weaknesses and not a small handful of matchups. I don't want us to get weak against the run, and I certainly want a MLB in here. That player won't start opening day, though.

The position we were weakest at last year was S, and it's the place we're returning one starter - a starter we stated we wanted to replace. So a weakness got weaker.
