It does look impressive, but I'm still skeptical of their ability to tell a nuanced story.

Well, it is a movie so it won't be anywhere near as good as the source material. However, I think it will be fun to watch.

Wonder how they'll pull off the Tales of the Black Freighter?

I would imagine this is some of the nuance that will be completely missing. It really enriched the main story. I imagine the biographical stuff like Under the Hood will be missing too. Not sure how Syder can establish the universe without all that material but it could be fun watching him try to pull it off.

Watchman was a 12 issue comic series by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons published back in 86-87. It's set in an alt universe where masked vigilantes were real and had been banned by the Nixon admin. To me, it's the best comic story ever. Literate, political, amazing art & symbolism and a great social commentary . Available in TPB at any big box book store.

If Batman was real he would be Rorshach.

From what I've heard, it will be an anime narrated by Gerard Butler that won't be in the theatrical release but will be included on the subsequent DVD.
