At one of my stores I have two computers. Both setup through a router with Altell as the ISP, (they suckass btw). However, both computers can be on the internet all day long, no problem. The trouble is, when one logs in, it boots the other one off. Essentially, both computers can't be logged in at the same time. The VPN connections are the same of those at the other 60 stores who do the exact same thing. We dont have Altell at any of those stores though. Could this be Altell? and if so, how?

Can you clarify the 'log in' part?

one computer can be logged into the VPN and work fine. When another computer joins up onto the VPN in the same store, it kicks the other computer out of the VPN.

What VPN software?
What Router?

My guess is the router doesn't support multiple VPN tunnels. Share more info.

Need exact router name/version, ideally firmware version as well.
Need VPN software name and version.

Don't you have a corporate support team for this? If there are 60 other stores all working and a VPN solution in place, SOMEONE at your company must be an expert with this solution...

sorry man, Im getting all this information emailed to me. our company lacks big time in our IT field, and worse, the only help I can get is in ATL, and they dont know a whole lot. It's not even my job to fix it, they just need the help.

That sucks. Well, worst case I am in ATL every week, let me know where it is and maybe I can drop in after hours! :)

Without any more detailed info, I'm still leaning on it being a router misconfiguration. I believe that unless your router supports and has enabled "VPN Pass-through", you'll see exactly what they're getting. I know older Linksys routers didn't support this, but firmware updates brought that support and anything relatively new has it out of the box. However, I believe that it is NOT enabled out of the box... Of course, I'm not positive about any of that, but it's where I would start.

Hope that helps!
