Panthers sign sixth-round draft choice Tufts

The Carolina Panthers have signed sixth-round draft choice Sean Tufts from the University of Colorado, the team announced Friday.
A 6-3, 236-pound linebacker, Tufts started 32-of-40 games in four seasons for the Buffaloes and totaled 196 tackles, half a sack, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, four passes defensed and six quarterback hurries. As a senior in 2003, he earned All-Big 12 honorable mention after finishing second on the team in tackles with 95 and played in the Hula Bowl and East-West Shrine Game, where he led the West with six stops.

Tufts becomes the first of the Panthers six draft choices to sign with the team. Still unsigned are first-round choice Chris Gamble, second-round pick Keary Colbert, third-round selection Travelle Wharton, fifth-round choice Drew Carter and seventh-round pick Michael Gaines.

There is a LB from here in Cedar Rapids that accepted a scholarship from CU. I talked to him a few months back and he said his trip to CU was actually pretty lame. He was an excellent student and a pretty classy kid. Makes me think CU was prescreening these guys to make sure they sold them a specific package.
