Transferring video from VHS to my hard drive?

I want to convert all my VHS Panther games to DVD, but I want to edit them first on my PC. Can anyone give me some instruction on how to get this done?

easiest way is to buy a TV tuner, and hook the VCR to the computer with it.

Yep. We have it. EASY to use. We have it on an old 700 MHZ computer that we never use anymore. Even on that computer, it worked damn good.

This is an old article from December '05, but it will at least give you a sense of what you're looking at. Hauppauge is generally considered to be the best. ATI and Leadtek's WinFast line are of somewhat lesser quality, but still solid. I got the WinFast because it was quite a bit cheaper, but if I had to do it again I'd probably spend the extra to get the Hauppauge. NVidia is also apparently doing tuners now, but I'm not familiar with their products.

I've got a happauge myself, but when the new ATI tuner comes out that supports Cable Cards, I'm switching to that.
