if matthews had been really injured yesterday, i'd say a back for vincent jackson would be in order.

ideally, i'd like to trade one of the RBs -- williams or stewart -- for WR help. williams makes the most sense, given the contract deal. and smitty aint going to last forever. needs to be a replacement lined up and the panthers don't seem to have much ability to scout or groom at that position.

looks like brandon jacobs is on the trade block, too -- that'll decrease the value for one of the carolina backs.

skins could use a back.

i dont think carolina has the ability to trade picks for jackson, though. not at san diego's asking price.

Yes, I would trade for Jackson. And I would consider doing it at the cost of losing Deangelo Williams before heaving up another 1st round pick.

I think between Stewart, Goodson and Sutton, we'd be just fine. I've thought about this Vincent Jackson deal for most of the day now, and the more I recall seeing that Tampa game in person, from the perspective of the end zone, you'd be foolish to not--at the least--break off a quick phone call.

Again, I hate to keep bringing it up, but Goodson's sudden emergence offensively makes me happy, but also aware that it could very well be the team's way of getting used to life without one of the other two backs.

That, and Goodson would be your no huddle offense back, and he's the only back on our team that can catch a football.

Why? he sucks, is older, costs 1 million more than Williams and is proving to be an asshole when he doesn't get his touches whereas Williams seems willing to share.

I am not sure it would help much to have Jackson. We do not seem to have anyone who can get him the ball. DW is reaching the end of his rookie deal so I would consider moving him for Jackson if it were up to me.

Yea, I thought about the whole "well, fuck it, we can't pass the ball anyway so why trade for a receiver" scenario, too.

But, I'm fairly certain that with Jackson opposite 89, you would not see coverages rolling over, and you would end up with less 8-9 man fronts, which is killing us in the run game at the moment.

Clausen has the nerve and patience to make the throws. I have no doubt. We just hate him because he's not vocal and he looks like a retard.

Sounds like a good idea to me - couldn't believe Rosario missed those 2 balls yesterday, one of them a TD if he catches it. Jarrett's not doing shit, Lafell and Edwards questionable. I think Williams is a better back than Stewart, but if we could get a good receiver then I'd be OK with trading either of them if it was doable.

I am starting to wonder if maybe we should have made a move to get McNabb. I bet the Eagles would have rather traded him outside their own division.

The post to Rosario was overthrown. You have to give him a better chance at that one. The one to Gettis--my stomach is still sore over that one.

I would much rather trade Stewart given his injury history, but I'm not sure that we'd get as much for him as we would for Williams.
