Trading down in 2nd...?

What chance do we have in trading down with Tampa in the 2nd and picking up their 3rd?

about as much chance as anything, but teams don't trade down in the second until they're well into the second already.

I'd tend to agree, except when it comes to safeties where the draft seems deep enough with solid talent....

2nd Round:
(Trade Down to #64 for Tampa Bay’s 2nd+3rd rounder, #68)
Ikaika Alama-Francis, DE

3rd Round:
John Wendling, S
Brandon Frye, OT

4th Round
Matt Spaeth. TE

5th Round:
Jacoby Jones, WR

6th Round:
Jeff Rowe, QB

No. I don't know who that DE is. It may be a good trade. Assuming there is someone I have a good feeling about is there at our 2nd place choice, that is. The other thing is that Wendling is not guaranteed to be there in the 3rd at all.

The Panthers have traded down in the 2nd twice. Once for Grant, and the other for Nelson. They passed over some really good players to do it. They were set on taking those guys in the 2nd, and knew they were huge reaches where they were. They were really reaches where they ended up taking them too, esp Nelson. If they do really want someone they feel they can get later, OK, assuming its a good decision. If they havent learned to make good decisions, we're out of luck anyway.

So I won't rule it out entirely, but I just hate it in the 2nd in particular.

Put on 70 lbs. in three years including 35 pounds prior to his senior season alone...Prospect who seemingly came out of nowhere but had a nice senior campaign and as a result his stock is soaring.

The thought of having an extra guy or two is always promising on paper but few do it. Most times, that top 50 talent is in fact better than the next 25, but regardless, you make trades because you don't think the value's there at your spot, when you near your spot.

After looking him up, end of the 3rd is probably reasonable. There is another guy, Weddle, who may be a bit higher.
