They both signed a contract. If TO played like crap, the team can cancel the contract and TO's out. So, in a sense, they can renig on the contract if his play was poor. So what's wrong with TO wanting a better contract if he played lights out, like he did last year?

That's all part of the contract, COLLECTIVELY BARGINED with the Players Union. There are penalties for the team (Salary cap accleration, and others.) Contracts are NOT GUARENTEED like baseball and basketball. If the players want to change that, I believe an extension of the CBA is under negotiation as we speak.

TO can play for the Eagles or not play at all. Those are his rights under the contract they both signed.
