Dogs land Panthers' Davis in trouble

    By WCNC.com Staff

A sign outside Thomas Davis' home warns neighbors about his dogs.

A Panthers player's pit bulls were just seized and animal control has now cited Thomas Davis.

Neighbors in Providence Plantation were worried that the dogs would actually end up attacking a child.

Davis is known as a bulldog on the Carolina Panthers defense, but it's his three pit bulls that now have him in trouble with the law.

“There is obviously a maintenance problem with the animals,” said Officer Denise Lambiotte with animal control.

Tuesday, animal control issued the former first round draft pick a citation after his pit bulls got loose and attacked a woman who was walking her dog.

“In the middle of her trying to give aid to her dog, she was also bitten on her hand,” Lambiotte said.

Police records show Davis was cited for the very same thing, not having his dogs on a leash, a second time, May 3. And neighbors in Providence Plantation told 6NEWS Davis' dogs roam the neighborhood on a regular basis.

In an email sent to the home owners association, a neighbor expressed concern about for other neighbors and their pets. Another email warns of the possibility of more accidental attacks.

“Any dog that's out roaming is not a safe situation for the public. You don't know (if) that animal has rabies shots,” Lambiotte said.

6NEWS tried to talk to Davis about his dogs, but no one answered the door. For now, the three pit bulls are in the care of animal control. Officers are looking into whether or not they will officially declare the dogs dangerous.

If the dogs are declared dangerous, Lambiotte said the owner would be asked to forfeit their ownership rights and the animals would be destroyed.

yep, same up here, and if the owner didn't show up and apologize for you having to shoot his dogs, and showed an attitude, he'd of been shot too.
