Goodell should have shown some sack when the TMZ story dropped. Keep the suspension where you had it, let the public outcry die out after several months. Play the long game. Nobody was going to stop buying tickets or stop watching NFL games in defiance. Americans aren't that morally proactive, they just enjoy complaining until they're ready to complain about something else. In the summer it was Michael Sam, and now nobody gives a fuck if Michael Sam ends up working at Target for the rest of his life. They could have weathered the storm for a few months and been just fine.
