and going with the EFS 17-55 2.8 IS. I think with the amount of shooting i do at bars, clubs, concerts and parties that the low light capabilities of the 17-55 would really be cool. Right now I use the 50mm 1.8 for those situations, but it's REALLY slow to focus and I'm limited by the fixed focal length - and it's not a great length for close shooting.
I've read that the 17-55 is about the sharpest non-L zoom Canon's got and the IS is good for 2 stops.
The only thing I'd be trading off by selling the 28-135 is range, but I've got a 70-300 and I can't think of the last time i've carried only one lens, so I don't see that as being an issue.
The only other downside is that it's one more lens that ties me to a 1.6x crop body, but with the advancements of the 40D I think that still gives me plenty of "growing room" for down the road.
Have I overlooked anything in thinking this over? Any other things I should consider?
