UNC should be ready to wreak havoc next year. There will be no excuses if this team does less than a top 3 ACC and a final 4 - no excuses from me anyway. It appears that all the signees may well matriculate and possibly Padgett transfers in...Padgett could be huge because the Heels could possibly lose 5/7 players early next year and his presence could lighten that impact somewhat. Ole Roy is gonna have to recruit his butt off to bring in a top teir class next year. Marcus Ginyard has already commited. If Padgett settles on Chapel Hill, and they can get 3 more blue-chippers, then they will be fine. Youth will be an issue after next season, IMO. I'm happy to role the roundball out with what will be in place next year. This team is gonna be scary athletic - and 10 deep, too. Guthridge really put this program behind for years...It's amazing what a couple bad recruiting classes can do to at the D-1 level.

Yes, I meant the year after next...D-1 transfers must sit for one year. Obviously the Heels are gonna lose Williams, Scott and Manuel...Others to consider are Felton, McCants and the two Freshmen...I can't imagine that 7 players will leave. That would be unprecidented, but I suppose in todays climate, a possibility. The NCAA needs to abolish the 5/8 rule. The big-time programs can't be expected to rebuild every other year.

That would be a very good reason NOT to get rid of it. Parity.

I would agree if Parity is the reason...However, if that's the case then the NCAA should limit the football powerhouses to a maximum of 5star and 4star high schoolers...The football powers have remained consistent for years - same top shools every year.

That's pretty subjective, I think. Your 4-star may be my 1-star. Also, the 5/8 rule doesn't care how a player is rated.

I'll qualify that by saying I don't like the rule either. I'm also not in favor of any rule that keeps 'powerhouses' a factor every year.

I am all for an age limit on the NBA, but that won't happen. They are fighting it in pro football and if football doesn't have one then there is no way nba basketball ever would.
