Shouldn't we have challenged on the basis of the elbow down, not the push out?

Fox was motioning for the pushout challenge, which I thought was the wrong way to go....I don't know why they didn't go after it being a catch without the pushout.

kudos to the defense all night tonight.. came up with big plays and esp in end of 1st half when jake threw the pick.. we came right back with another one.. huge win.. tied with everyone for wildcard.. a game back from the saints.. the 2 games i see that are huge in 2nd half are both away.. @ Philly and @ NO.. could come down to superdome for who wins division.. but the end of the game.. gotta give Fox credit for trying to get Tampa Bay a completion to get the fumble recovery.. peppers is tampa bays daddy!

I think is stinks you have to identify the challenge correctly.....why can't Fox just say...look at it again....why does he have to say whether it was a push out/possession/body part down challenge? They should review all three and make the right call after a challenge.....a team shouldn't be penalized because they call the wrong challenge out.

you have to challenge it correctly and I don't believe the system works without giving that specific thing to review. That Fox called the wrong thing to look at, and wasnt' given the ability to challenge correctly, was unfortunate. He, or someone, should've known the correct rule there though.

problem is time....there is not enough time to look at it clearly before Tampa O takes the field and snaps the ball.

if it was challenged then they would have discovered that the ball actually touched the ground.....the fact is all three aspects have to be looked at so why can't the challenge be more broad......

Keys arm was in bounds, he was pushed and the ball did touch the ground....so all aspects came into play....not just one.....I just think they should review everything as long as the team has a red flag to throw and simply get the call right......fact is Carolina would have lost that challenge either way.

reviewing all aspects of a play isn't feasible. If there's a reason the play is called incorrect, it should be stated and reviewed. Just asking for some sort of blank appeal to the referees isn't worthwhile to the process, just desperation by the team who wants the review.

And yeah, Fox or whoever watched it and told him to replay should know the rules enough to ask for the catch being in bounds knowing that "forced out" isn't reviewable. Granted, I don't know, but I don't make 7 figures to know this type stuff.

I don't think Key was forced out--his body was falling towards the boundary. He elbow DID get down in the green, which I thought was a TD, but the incorrect challenge (and then no challenge at all in the end), only delayed the inevitable--the Panthers stuill had the ball, and did end up getting points.
