Teams ahead of us probables

I know we have rehashed this thru mocks (others and our own) but with the draft just over 2 weeks give me three names that each of the teams ahead of us, you think, fall in to these three categories. One glaring need, probable, surprise pick. The surprise pick could be a trade

Like for the Bungles:
Glaring need defensive line ie Suggs or Robertson
Probable - Palmer
Surprise - Trade with Chicago and draft Leftwich at 4

The Bungles best lineman is DE Justin Smith. Smith could play either side though.

Still, got to say their other choice is Newman, because that’s their glaring need. Corners.


Detroit: Rodgers

Glaring need: WR

Surprise. Trades up to #1 to ensure they get Rodgers.

I personally think the Bengals biggest need is at DT and as Piper said - CB.

I know they want to move down soooo bad. I think they would come down pretty cheap too. Why don't we go on up and get Rogers. Just protect that 2nd rounder for QB or OT and move on.

Give em #9 and a 3, and later 4

The Texans have lost of needs at #3.

I would say their biggest needs are some OL help to keep Carr alive and a WR so he can throw to someone.

I say the probably pick is Andre Johnson

I say the surprise pick is Newman, Capers loves defense.

The Texans may not be that far away from a good line if they can get a running back to balance. You have to have that back, because no line is good enough without a running threat to keep everyone honest. See zona.


At Tackle, on the roster, they have Boselli, Pitt, Jones, and Wiegert.

Weary can play center or guard, and is in his second year.

Boselli hasn't been healthy this milineum, but if they can get his shoulder right, he's a shut down guy.

Wiegert can play Left Tackle as a stop gap, if neccessary, he's a good utility lineman for depth.

Jones was the Jets RT, and regarded as a decent one, but he was out injured almost all of last year.

Pitts played Left Tackle for them last year out of nessecity. They'd probably ask him to move to guard.

Boselli, Wiegert, Weary, Pitts, and Jones is a damn good line. If they do try and guard against Boselli being out with a 1st or 2nd round pick, that's an outstanding line.

That's why I had them moving down and grabbing the Jets two first rounders. They can grab a back, a tackle, and a WR or defensive lineman with their first three picks.

so if i'm cinn and i can't get DET to trade up, i just let the time run out on my pick, an let DET pick cuz they is gonna take rogers anyway and he should be picked #1 (and cost more bucks), then i takes newman at #2 -- which makes more sense than at 1. i get who i really want and at a better price.

Bengals' need is at DL? No. They have Smith and Powell, who'll be a decent run-downs DE for Reinard, and just signed Thornton to play one DT to go along with the three other guys who were dicking around at the other DT - my favorite of the group's Williams.

Interesting idea. Very.

Cinci is saying though they want to start getting into contract negotionations and sign the guy pre-draft. The team with the first pick can sign their guy before the draft.

So any trade could happen right then. The clock starts ticking on a trade when a team opens the negotiations. Because once they've signed, they have signed and Cinci can't trade, cause they commited to the signing bonus. And teams know this, so this is when they will start calling.

If we're looking to draft a WR that can also be a PR then we'll trade up enough to get Andre Johnson. IMO
