TE Coach?

Saw it mentioned that Ben Coates might be a possibility, but I was under the impression he hasn't been that good as a coach.

Other ideas?

Coates doesn't instill a ton of confidence. Davidson left, Coates was fired.

I guess there's Metzelaars, if we wait.

no news at all, no. So maybe. Right now's the time to talk to coaches, though, so I hope they're dead set on PM if they're waiting.

Aren't we missing the TEs coaching position since Isuzu moved to OL? I wonder if we're going to fill it with somebody outside to organization or if they'll combine it with another coaching position that somebody's in now? Hmm.

Even if they drag their feet, they do have Geep Chryst, who could fit in at most positions given his experience, and his brother Paul has coached TEs in this league (currently OC for Wisconsin, I believe), so I wouldn't mind seeing him here either. Metzelaars could always come, and that's the only thing rumored (Tim Lewis was the only rumored DBs coach, FWIW).

BTW, it's weird when you google a guy's name and within five entries you can read one with your own words on him.

Well, there's nothing special about the Colts or Bears TE coaches, and those would be lateral moves anyway. Metzelaars would make some sense.

Most times a third-tier assistant (offensive assistant/quality control, administrative assistant to the head coach, etc) will get that permission regardless. I imagine that doesn't pay much more than a decent living wage, and is just a way in. Most coaches won't abide by the gentleman's rule of a Billick or Lewis to give a guy the leg up to make his way, the old rules; but a third tier guy, an assistant to an assistant, will have the leeway to do what he needs to get that chance to be a full-on assistant.
