Went to the Panthers team store @ lunch today and all Davis jerseys are marked off 25%. Only player jersey that is. The store manager was quick to point out that this was due to an overstock situation and not to read anything into it. However when I asked why the 4 racks of John Kasey jerseys that have collected more dust than a pair of Tshimanga Biakabutuka gameday shoes are also not on clearence the reply why they were just following a memo from upstairs...

I can see the glut factor. He was one of the most popular in 03-04 and then he went down in 04-05. Sales probably went down cuz of that.

and they were anticipating needing a lot of them for the season.

Sorry, PF.

But to say that a player, who missed much of the 2004 season, has a jersey in a store that is 25% off means that he is likely to be cut is just not good enough.

His stock has dropped, and lord know how many thousands of Davis jerseys are collecting dust.

It's a merchandicing move. Not a football move.

Agree, however the "Davis being done" thing isn't without merit. IF I buy a yellow lab I think I'll name her Ginger

Let me refer you to my post in the "Bad News" thread on here:

I have heard the same thing about Davis and his knee but I do not know that for sure. What I have heard is that whenever he is active on it, running/lifting etc that it swells up and becomes tight. I think time will tell if the surgery will help.

This is the Panther team store, not Madison Ave. This is the same group who in 2001 ordered nothing but Weinke jerseys and then it took them to 2003 to figure out they ought to mark them down to move them.

This is all just a stab any humour anyways. However the bells of truth of the possible ending of the Davis era are certainly well within earshot...

I'm with PF...it's not a good sign

I told my son he was done after the Green Bay game.....he cried.....I told him that he was old and knees don't repair well later in life....Natrone Means said he could bearly walk after having his surgery....he said it would swell up with the slightest physical contact and after a couple long sprints and cuts....it sucks but I've know Davis was done since summer.
