Two Players Taken in NFL Supplemental Draft, Browns Stay Idle
Submitted by Eugmc on Thu, 2007-07-12 16:03.

Bernie Kosar is probably the most famous NFL Supplemental Draft pick. However, this year the Cleveland Browns steered clear of making a pick. When all was said and done only two teams and players participated in the draft.

The Chargers, picking 28th, chose cornerback Paul Oliver of Georgia in the fourth round. The Ravens, selecting 31st, picked Maryland tackle Jared Gaither in the fifth round.

By making the selections the teams will lose the draft rights to those rounds in next April's NFL draft.

The San Francisco 49ers have signed supplemental draft prospect Mark Washington to a free agent contract.

Both are steals considering the rounds they went in.

Leftovers, anyone?

OT Chris Patrick, formerly of Nebraska, seems to be the best player out there right now. He'd be an interesting project - has the size, strength, athletic enough, some say he has to go to guard because he doesn't have the 320 lbs some feel he should have.

The biggest problem is I couldn't find an actual reason for him to come out early, and he's only started one season and two games, all at left tackle.
