What’s the feeling on this? Should he have been penalized? Aren't refs normally going to call an unsportsmanlike on that? Poole definitely should have been flagged for that take down out of bounds, and I was surprised that Smith did not completely lose it right there. He passed that test well enough, but what is with this kicking crap? Last year he kicked a player . . . maybe he’s just going to take his anger out on footballs this year.)

One more thing - I hope he is able to refrain from talking smack prior to our regular season games. Maybe he got that out of his system for a while with that Poole foolishness. I hope he is "grown up" enough to reach the top of that stack o' cash he just got. What do you guys think? Has Steve seemed mature enough so far this year, or has he maybe lost some control since the super bowl?

If you are going to complain about Smith talking trash, why aren't you chastising Rucker and Minter? They are the ones who said it was going to be a rematch.

I thought the ball only went a few feet. But yeah, it was pretty stupid. So was the whole "rematch" thing.

I'm glad they let it go, but he probably should've been flagged. I think it's a thin line between where he was, and being flagged. In basketball, that's a certain delay penalty.

Agreed. I'm more lenient about Smith having done what he did, because he didn't react to this. You can handle seeing someone want the ball in frustration a lot more than you can handle seeing a guy kick another guy in the head like before.

Defensively, you're expected to see that type energy. Rucker's a lot smarter player.

I don't know if any writer put it in their story, but Smtih was asked if Poole said anything to him during the game, and Smitty responded...

I think the refs felt it was a dumb enough thing to do given the situation and figured he already hurt his team by not allowing them to spot the ball as time ticked away. The ref was shaking his head.
This occured on the drive just before half if I am thinking correctly...it could have cost us points, probably should have been flagged.
I am sure Fox and CO. pulled him aside at halftime and let him know exactly what that action COULD have cost. It was stupid NO DOUBT, but they let it slide. I see it as a sign of respect given to some vets. TO has done things like this w/o being flagged.
