Since 2004, Delhomme is 8 and 27 in games when he throws 30+ times. Since Davidson became coordinator, he's 1-7. The 1 being 2008 SD opener.

No wonder Henning ran the fromunda. He knew these things.

I cant figure why the fuck we threw it 44 times yesterday.

I do not know why we have not run the ball more all year. A run that gets stuffed at the line of scrimmage is a lot better than a turnover. DW is going to break off a few big plays here and there if you give him enough carries. Take away the 13 picks and 2 fumbles we have gotten from the passing game and we are not going to be 2-4.....

At the game it seemed that they were trying to use alot of short passes to the running backs like run plays or at least that was the impression I got. If you take the passes to them as running plays it was something like 32 plays to the backs. I thought that was a decent way to get Jake some confidence at the time. It's just that his longer passes were picked and they led to points and got behind. Any idea how the pass attempts broke down by quarter? Were they prodiminantly late when we had to try for quick yards?

First half:
26 pass (six targets to the backs)
18 run

here's the game book:

I looked at that and read it wrong the first time and mistook the completions (16) for the attempts.

It seemed like alot of short stuff which I took at the time as "like run" plays. I guess not.

Damn, Meat's all over this guy.

You do have to take into account when a ball control offense throws it 30+ they are usually behind and having to throw so those stats are a bit misleading.

That being said, you would think an NFL QB would comeback and win a few more.

He did in 2003, when his 30+ throw win loss was 5-2 including the superbowl. All comebacks, except one poor performance vs. tenn. Even the Superbowl loss was a valiant comeback by jake.

That was a long time ago.

We had some comebacks last year, but we were never so out of it that we abandoned the run in those Bears,Pack,Zona ballgames. Our pass game is so play action oriented, that we need to continue to run to get the explosive pass plays. And we got a lot of explosive runs.

Which again makes the pass/run ratio last game silly. Dammit. I didn't realize we were so pass heavy in the first half.
