Spurrier speculation for South Florida

File this one away for next January: Steve Spurrier to the Dolphins. Word is that Spurrier has his eye on that job if Wannstedt is let go. It would be just downstate from his home in North Florida, but it also would give him a chance to prove that he can be successful in the NFL. Although most have Spurrier heading back to college, he has told some close to him that he is intrigued by the Dolphins job. Miami owner Wayne Huizenga will likely seek out a big name if Wannstedt is let go. Spurrier is certainly that in a state dominated by University of Florida alumni.

I doubt he is near the top of the list but probably does make the list. Maybe he learned his "Fun & Gun" won't work in the NFL or maybe he has some changes that can make it work. Either way, he won't get $5 million/year to try it out.

maybe better with the new coverage rules, but I still think the defensive speed difference in the NFL is what makes his offense look so shitty.

Yep. Recruiting athletes and building a team are different things. possibly a reason Mack Brown isn't in the NFL.

I actually found myself defending Spurrier, to a point, about two hours ago while discussing football around a fire pit and chanting to the football gods with some buddy's.
Basically, they were saying how his offense would never work in the NFL. I stated that he would have a shot of implimenting his offense anywhere but Washington. With the constant carousel of players/coaches shuffling through there it's impossible to develop anything past the infant stages. Like I said before, they have only committed to Arrington...and as someone else corrected me, Jansen. Otherwise, it's always new faces, new schemes.

My point has merit, but I feel I should still be punished for uttering words in defense of the jackass...maybe our chanting reached someone in the football spirit world.
