I see where the Panthers are entertaining Shelton of Louisville. Don't know if any of you folks saw him or not last year in that great entertaining offense, but I had the chance to on several occasions. He is a beast, runs a little too high, but he is "long" and his power is amazing. Reminds you a lot of A. Smith, who gave the Panthers so much trouble in recent years. Some say he is very "hungry," which may or may not mean anything once a price is paid.

Antowain Smith is a fair representation of Shelton, though he's a little more filled in with 15 lbs more mass. Davis runs somewhat high - Foster very high - if you can teach a guy to lower the shoulder for the hit, you're usually in somewhat good shape.

...the name escapes me

. . . there was also one helluva receiver on that Louisville team who will eventually play in the NFL. I cannot recall his name or if he is NFL-eligible in my current inebriated state, but he is strong and resembles that gentleman who scored 16 touchdowns last year for Carolina.

And we get to see Mr. Smith this year once more. He just signed with the Aints.

I'd like to see him succeed if only to show you can't judge a rookie after 3 pre-season games when non of the other running backs looked good either.

Didn't Thomas Davis look pretty bad in pre-season as well?

I dunno. At least my expectations are low. If he makes the roster - I'm impressed. If he can actually play well - I'm thrilled.
