Ok- in another thread someone mentioned that we could be positioning ourselves to sign a few of our young promising players either this year or next- ie foster, witherspoon, manning, maybe wesley, etc. Maybe we saw losing grant was a better position than possibly handicapping our future to negotiate with our next crop of signees. Do you agree with that strategy if that is indeed what we did?

And i think we're gonna trade up in the draft.

Foster has 3 years left on his contract he signed a 5 year deal. and Manning I believe still has 2 years.... but it POSSIBLY could be more. However Witherspoon and Wesley are possibilities.

yeah, I guess some of our recent depth signings could be packaged with the 31st pick to move up to at least 30. We have too many holes to trade up, and not enough value to trade up enough to make any difference.

Plus, we're a Super Bowl team, why the fuck do you rebuild at that point?

you're right- foster signed a 5 year deal coming out. how many more years does morgan have left on his contract- 2? i'm thinking we may get some extensions done this year.

When Foster takes over as the starter he and his agent are probably going to expect a huge extension immediately (seems to be the thing to do) and if that happens next year it doesn't matter if he has 3 years left. When a player turns into a hero then 2 or 3 years of pats on the back ain't gonna cut it . . . he'll want his kwan. Ask Portis

Right. How many SB teams immediately sign backups and at the same time let a bunch of starters walk . . . players that just started in a super bowl.

we can just trade him to the skins if he won't honour his contract.

he hasn't earned more than his $1 mil. a year yet and I'll be damned if they should give him an extension... doesn't matter if they say he's starting tomorrow... when he was brought in it was assumed he's be the starter by the end of his rokkie year and even he knew that signing the contract... I believe you're wrong

1 year... he's in a contract year... he signed a 4 year deal... he'll be a free agent after this year. Restricted I believe.

No. Not in recent history has any first round pick been signed to only a three year deal.
I believe he signed for five. I could look it up, but it's irrelevant. We might be intentionally cheap for various reasons, but shame on them if it's a matter of wanting to get people who haven't stepped up, more money.
