From Great Blue North Report,
Niners staff back in Mobile… For the third year in a row, San Francisco coach Mike Nolan and his staff will lead the South team in the Senior Bowl. In 2007, the 49ers selected six Senior Bowl players in the draft including LB Patrick Willis who was just named the NFL's official Defensive Rookie of the Year. The Senior Bowl is scheduled for January 26th.

How are the coaching staffs decided? Seems like its a great advantage for the organization.

Oakland will coach the North, FWIW.

49ers coach this damn thing every year. I don't get it. Used to be decided on where you finished...the Pro Bowl was for the losers of the championship game and the senior bowl was for the team that finished closest to the playoffs without getting in.

Coaching staff (that hasn't been fired) with the worst record in each conference.

How do you get to coach the Senior Bowl twice in three years and still keep your job?

They were really really bad before he got there. The roster still lacks talent. Vernon Davis hasn't done shit. They have Frank Gore on offense and that's about it.

Use to be the rule Mag said. They changed it to be the rule you said. I agree with your question. I think a team should be limited to coaching the Senior Bowl once every five years, or whatever. The Rams had a worse record than the 9ers. Why arent they getting the spot? Maybe they didnt want it, but this just isnt right.

there's another game, I think, that's coached by middle-of-the-road teams, but i can't remember which it is.

Didn't George SeiFART fall in love and make sweet whoopee with Rashard Anderson while coaching at the Senior Bowl and then draft him in the first frakkin' round?!
