Todd Sauerbrun, P
Carolina Panthers
Height: 5-10
Weight: 215
Born: 01/04/1973
College: West Virginia
NFL Experience: 9
Last year, panthers punter todd sauerbrun said of bucs place-kicker martin gramatica:
“The guy needs to act like he’s been there before. He’s a good kicker and I’m not going to take that way from him, but he’s making other kickers look bad because of it.”
“It’s like when guy a scores a touchdown, just hand the ball back to the ref. It’s the same thing for him. I mean, c’mon, he’s made game-winning kicks before. I think people around the league will respect him more if he just goes about his business on the field.”
“He really needs to chill out, plain and simple. You don’t see me jumping around when I hit a 70-yard punt like I’ve never done that before.”
"I don't know who this kid (gramatica's youngest brother, who sauerbrun says taunted him outside of the panthers locker room after a loss) thinks he's playing with but I'm not the most mild-tempered guy. If he would have said the wrong thing to me there's no telling what I might have done ... that kid is as big of an idiot as his brother, and I'm sure his other brother is, too. It goes right down the line.''
"He had everyone holding him back to make it look good. You know what, that guy is not even worth the things I have to say about him ... If I have the opportunity to tell him to his face next time, I will. I don't like the guy and that is all there is to say.''
"I don't want anything to do with the guy.''
Martin Gramatica, K
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Height: 5-8
Weight: 170
Born: 11/27/1975
College: Kansas State
NFL Experience: 5
Gramatica had four field goals in Tampa Bay’s 12-9 win over the Panthers on Oct. 27, including the game-winner from 47 yards away with five seconds left. Gramatica made seven field goals in two victories over Carolina last year.
gramatica said of sauerbrun:
"One hundred percent of the people that know (Sauerbrun) don't like him, so how can I get upset about that?. I don't respect him."
"If you look at all his punts, 50 percent of the punts roll. That's why we had two return men back there, because he rolls it about 30 yards. So, I'm not worried about him."
"He must play with no emotion then. Plus, he never hit a 70-yard punt; that's why he hasn't jumped around."
