Panthers Re-Sign Franchise Player Sauerbrun
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - All-Pro punter Todd Sauerbrun, the first franchise player in Carolina Panthers' history, on Thursday signed a one-year contract to stay with the team.
Terms were not disclosed. Sauerbrun was selected to his second straight Pro Bowl last season after leading the NFL with a 45.5-yard average on 104 kicks. His net average of 37.5 yards was fourth in the league and he tied for second with 31 punts inside the 20-yard line.
Sauerbrun, 30, earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl following the 2001 campaign, when he averaged 47.5 yards on 93 punts and placed 35 inside the 20.
