I have an s-video jack on my laptop and want to play DVD's on my tv set. What's the best way to go about doing this? My vid card has settings for tv viewing. But I need cables.

really just go spend 60 bucks for a cheap dvd player. why run the shit out of your computer for nothing.

yes it exists... but its expensive as hell... its a little piece they have at radio shack that will convert S-Video to RCA... one piece... $20

I don't think you can transfer from one to the other. At least not without going through a reciever that has the capabilities to do so, but then you're kinda shooting yourself in the foot.

I've found a box with all the cables online for $31.95. Is that a good deal? It's got the audio/s-video/rca cables and the converter.

VOR...I want to be able to watch the DVD-rips that I'm stealing from Kazaa on my television instead of a 15.1" laptop display. I'm a cheap bastard.

no you can get the other thing cheaper... if you already have RCA jacks in your TV you're wasting your money on an RF Modulater... which I'm assuming is what you found... go to RadioShack tell thim you want THIS and listen to me from now on dammit... lol

Alright Brain. I found a 6' cord that does the same thing as your little adapter for 14.95. Plus shipping it comes out to be about the same as the Radio Shack dealie. Thanks.

There's a S-Video switch. The one for the video games is $20 and it allows you to input 5 inputs (dvd,vcr,ps2,video camera,etc..) and use just the one S-Video input on your TV. It has the standard RCA jacks as well.

I'm not sure if you can plug in the RCA jack on one end, and get S-Video on the other end though. I have one, I can check.

My tv has RCA's. My computer has S-video. I found a box that converts but Brain says I'm wasting my dollars. Can you try it from computer to tv? I don't want to buy a connector that I can't use. Thanks.
