It is interesting and should be disturbing that the quarterback felt like he let down a linebacker more than a wide receiver today. But, if you listen to Clausen's explaination of why he apologized to Beason and Beason's comments about it, it seems pretty clear that Beason is the leader of this team. If you listen to Smitty's comment about it, it's pretty clear that he still doesn't get that it takes more than putting up the best stats to be a leader.
On the bright side he's cut down his fumbled snaps.

Eh, all it comes down to is one simple variable:
Clausen's remarkable ability to gobble a fat dick. He's lost, scared, and most importantly: non-productive. Fuck.....give Null a fucking look.
Today's game was horrid for Clausen. 210 yards rushing to support a play action, and you throw exactly two passes downfield.
Mechanically, he's depressingly inconsistent--almost lazy.

Was commenting on that during the game, Davidson would wait until they knew we had to throw, wouldn't try to take advantage of the fact our run game was making an impact.

I don't have a problem with his mechanics. He's afraid, to a point, and that might improve, but it's like he shelved his swagger so now he's just a pussy.
FWIW, I think Smitty got upset because he went to Beason, and because of that feels like Clausen doesn't respect him. It has nothing to do with Smith, and while I can't fault his frustration, a guy on his last strike doesn't need to bad mouth players to media. Beason himself learned that lesson, but Smith never did.
The problem is, he's partially right. That entire offense, him included, needs to apologize.
