I'm wondering if he's having any serious regrets about taking this job. He probably could have been in line to take over in SD once Norv gets fired.

For the record, I think Panther fans should cut the guy some slack. Fox is a better HC (imo) but he started 3-8 here. Give it some time.

Fox had better on the D, and he had a real DC there too.

Rivera has more on the O. But we're unbalanced, passing like crazy with a rookie quarterback when we have not one, but two elite running backs.

I'm gonna give it the rest of the year. I hope Rivera gets mad. The man knows defense. That much is clear. He's a good coach. And if he learns the lessons on what it takes to be a HC, maybe he can be great.

Time to see how the rest of the year is going to play out. I'm done hoping we "win and show improvement". Our defense is getting worse, Cam seems to be regressing a bit, and I just hope we can stop the bleeding at this point. Limp into next year, and start fresh. See what's up. JR won't settle for three seasons like this in a row, so I imagine, Rivera won't have a choice if he wants to keep his job. He'll have to improve.

I wish I knew about the draft and college ball, so I could start thinking about something hopeful.

He went to the Dolphins w Parcells in some other capacity at first, right? Now he's back coaching STs?

Goddamn, he was good. I remember people bitching about him while he was here too. Sheesh. We need to relish the good ones we have. They don't come along often.

I thought he retired, then unretired some time later. His last year here things fell off, as I remember things right now. That may have been when people bitched.

O'Brien was hated with the Dolphins. He was Saban's toady, a little snitch. He was also awful the last year he was here.

Rivera's defenses weren't great at either stop in year one. 21st in year one at CHI, 25th that first portion of a year in SD and 16th the first full year.
